IPS was founded in 1997 by retired law enforcement officers with the goal of combining their skills and experience to impact the investigative industry. During the next several years, evidence gathered by IPS led to the arrest, conviction or the denial of benefits of hundreds of criminals attempting to defraud the workers compensation insurance industry.  In 2000 the company diversified into the physical security industry.
